My Comeback Story: Wendy H.

Wendy H.
Kneedless to say, I am grateful

In my late thirties, I could not be on my knees. I loathed this. Years of sports that included figure skating, rodeo, horse polo, and running half marathons put me here. In my late forties, the risk of falling down stairs was real. I had to hold the railing to avoid the inevitable. Stubborn, I continued to ride and gradually modified my yoga routine until I hit the wall. I could almost not walk. My back had taken so much of the burden that I was visibly disabled. Starting with my worst, Dr. Cooke replaced my right knee. Within 3 years, I returned for the second left knee. Now I am pain-free, able to sit on my knees with my butt to my heels—great range of motion, total stability, and I ski better! The great care from everyone at OAL motivated me and got me through the worst of times. Dr. Cooke’s great skill leaves me with equal bilateral stability and almost invisible scarring—my legs still look great at age 60.
