My Comeback Story: Doretta H.

Doretta

In early 2020, I was 42 years old and realized that I could no longer ignore that there was a problem with my hip. The pain had been there for decades, but was increasingly worse, and was negatively impacting my daily life and sleep. During one of my daily walks, my hip completely gave out, and I was uncertain how I was going to make it back home. My primary care physician took one look at my X-ray and sent me directly to Othopedic Associates of Lancaster. Dr. Tocks broke the news to me that I would need a total hip replacement and that I should do it sooner rather than later. I began to list all the reasons why the timing wasn’t right. I was a single mom, recently promoted with a busy career, and finishing my degree. Dr. Tocks kindly urged me to make myself a priority before the situation got worse. In March 2020, I underwent an anterior total hip replacement, which was life-changing. Recovery was quick and quite easy. The staff at OAL did a great job preparing me for surgery and for the recovery. Today I have my life back and can enjoy life pain-free. I hike frequently and enjoy camping, traveling, and exploring.
